MEDIAGURU UPGRADES HUAWEI’S MUCHTV

Huawei, Dubai recently deployed a centralized solution to manage its media assets and push content on IPTV and OTT platforms. Huawei’s streaming platform, MuchTV, was launched in September 2015 as part of the company’s expansion into digital content and hosting space. Huawei contracted systems integrator MediaGuru to provide a centralized content management solution that provided metadata enrichment and was capable of delivering across multiple platforms.

SIX TOP THREATS FOR TELEVISION BROADCASTERS

Streaming services have been threatening to take a bite out of linear TV broadcast viewership for quite some time. However, it is only recently that television broadcasters have begun to feel the threat. According to a study conducted by Michael Nathanson of MoffettNathanson, Netflix’s US subscribers were up six per cent in 2015 from 4.4 per cent in 2014.

MediaGuru bagged the digitization project for Public Broadcaster of India- ‘Doordarshan’ and worked along with Spanish media asset management company, Tedial, for it. “Prasar Bharti Kolkata wanted to digitise 30,000 hours of video content, but they have over 1,00,000 hours of video content in formats like DVCAM, DVCPro, U-matic, etc, which had to be captured, archived, restored and managed,” said Sushil Khanna.

THE RISING INTERNET PENETRATION LEVELS IN THE MENA REGION ARE REDEFINING AND CHANGING THE DYNAMICS OF WATCHING TV MEDIA

A new report published by the Arab Advisors Group and MediaGuru analyzed the state of convergence in the MENA region and looked into the future of Digital content in 20 countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the UAE and Yemen. The report revealed that among all the countries analyzed in the study, the GCC countries are the most ready countries for convergence followed by Lebanon and Jordan.

MEDIAGURU OUTLINES ITS IBC AGENDA

Sanjay Salil, MD, MediaGuru will share insight s from the survey at the IBC Conference on Sept ember 12, 2015, 12:00pm onwards at E-102, RAI Amsterdam. GETTING INTO THE PICTURE

From looking for office space to hiring staff, Mediaguru did everything for Channel 7 (now IBN7). By the end of the year, Salil was in business. Mediaguru set up in quick succession Manorama News (a part of the Malayala Manorama Group), NETV (in Assam) and Sakshi (Telugu) among 18-odd channels, largely in the news space.

TVC THE FIRST PAN-AFRICAN NEWS CHANNEL GOES LIVE

Media services company MediaGuru delivered the multi-million dollar, 24/7 HD-ready news channel project in less than two years.
